Why should I get involved in church?
Getting involved at Covenant Life Fellowship is important to help further the Kingdom of God and to help put you in touch with other Christians.
Whether you are singing in the choir or involved in the youth ministry, getting involved will only enhance your life. You’ll be serving God, fellowshipping with others, and helping those in need. Since churches largely operate on a volunteer basis, there are always plenty of ways available for you to get involved. We are all a part of Christ’s body and that body doesn’t function properly when one or two or six parts decide they’re not going to contribute (1 Corinthians 12:12-27).
Pastor Rick Warren, the senior pastor of Saddleback Valley Community Church in Southern California made the following observation: “Only in America do you have a significant percentage of people who believe that they are Christians, but who are unattached to any local church. That’s like believing that you are an offensive tackle, but refusing to play on any particular football team. A Christian without a local church is a contradiction!”
The New Testament calls individuals to make three great commitments-a commitment to Christ, a commitment to Christ’s family (a local church) and a commitment to the cause of Christ (the great goal of world evangelization and ministry to those who are in need). Many people make one of the commitments-they commit themselves to Christ, but not to his family or to his cause, or they get involved in a church, but are not committed to Christ. We need to make all three commitments.
We pray you will consider joining the Covenant Life Fellowship Family but most importantly, accept Christ as your personal Savior. Commit your life to fellowship with Christ and His people.

How can I discover my spiritual gifts?
The Holy Spirit equips all believers with spiritual gifts.
God has created you and gifted you in a way to function within the church to help fulfil “The Great Commission”. Let us help you determine yourunique gifting. Take a few minutes to complete the online Spiritual Gift & Personality Profile.
We encourage you to complete the Spiritual Gifts Inventory assessment right away. The assessment will help you to understand your primary gifted area. It is important to understand your gift(s) simply because it will help you understand why you see things and react to things the way you do. You will also better serve God if you know the part of the body that you are supposed to be functioning as. A body cannot function very well if the hands and feet try to do the job of the head, nor can a body function very well if the arms try to do the job of the feet. The body functions the best when all members are healthy and doing their job as created by God for God.
Discovering your spiritual gift(s) can begin with a very simple question, “What do you enjoy most about serving the Lord?” The most important word in this question is “enjoy”. Doing what you enjoy brings a sense of accomplishment. You will be excited about the responsibilities you are given that require use of your gift. Similarly, you will not likely be as motivated for assignments that are outside your giftedness.
By understanding the different ways God has made us to work within the body of Christ, whether it is in our local church or at a church like Covenant Life Fellowship, we will function more like the body of Christ and God will be able to better use us. You may find the best way to discover your gift is to serve in a variety of ministry situations. When you find the area that suits your gift, you will know it.
When we exercise our gifts, the Holy Spirit works through us. We experience an extra measure of energy and joy. When we ministry outside our gifts the end result may be less than rewarding. Many Christians get burned out on church work if they are operating outside their gift. Instead of finding a position where they can use their gifts, they sign up for whatever task is available. They do their best as long as they can take it, then they quit.
Please be sure to submit your completed assessment to the Covenant Life Fellowship Deacons Ministry. They will be excited to work with you and offer guidance.
Romans 12:3-8
For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. 4 For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, 5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. 6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; 7 or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; 8 he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

How should I use my spiritual gifts?
The best way to learn how to use your spiritual gift is to get involved! It is not until you practice that you will learn the most about how to execute the gift(s) God has given you. Peter wrote, “As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God” (1 Peter 4:10). The emphasis is on using our gifts to serve others, not ourselves.
Our spiritual growth of the body of Christ rests on our willingness to work together. You have an important role, a role only you can fill. Your God-given gift may serve you well in your secular pursuits. But those must be secondary to your involvement in God’s work. It is God’s will for you to be exercising your gifts for the common good of His people. If the church you attend does not provide you with flexible opportunities to do so, find another one. But whatever you do, exercise that gift!
